3. How Payment Processing Works
1. Selection: You choose your preferred payment method at checkout.
2. Authentication: You may be required to complete 3D Secure authentication (e.g., "Verified by Visa" or "Mastercard SecureCode"). This is mandatory under the PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication (SCA) rules and adds an extra layer of security to your transaction.
3. Authorisation: We request authorisation from your bank to confirm funds are available.
4. Confirmation: You receive immediate on-screen confirmation, along with an order confirmation email.
5. Charge: Your payment method is charged immediately upon order confirmation.
4. Digital Wallets: Apple Pay & Google Pay
We use tokenisation for all digital wallet transactions. This means your full card numbers are replaced with a unique digital token. Your full card numbers are never shared with TjsPets, and each transaction is authenticated via your device's biometrics (Touch ID/Face ID) or passcode.
5. PayPal
When you choose PayPal, you will be redirected to their secure login page to confirm the payment. The payment is handled entirely by PayPal, and we never have access to your card or bank details stored with them. You will be automatically redirected to TjsPets.co.uk upon completion.
6. Payment Security & Compliance
· PCI DSS Level 1 Compliance: All payment processing is fully compliant with the highest level of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.
· Encryption: All payment data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using 256-bit SSL/TLS encryption.
· Tokenisation: Full card numbers are replaced with secure tokens. We never store full card numbers on our servers.
· Strong Customer Authentication (SCA): Fully implemented in accordance with PSD2 requirements in the UK and EU.
7. Transaction Timeline & Authorisation
· Order Submission: Clicking the "Place Order" button authorises TjsPets to charge your chosen payment method for the total amount shown.
· Authorisation Hold: A temporary hold for the order amount may appear on your account. This is a standard verification step to check card validity and fund availability; it is not a final charge. It converts to a final charge upon order confirmation.
8. Refunds
All refunds are issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.
· Processing: Refunds are processed within 5 business days of the refund request being approved.
· Appearance in Your Account: It may take an additional 5–10 business days for the funds to appear in your bank account, with a total maximum of 14 calendar days from the date of approval.
9. Failed or Declined Payments
If your transaction is declined, your order will not be processed. Common reasons include:
· Insufficient funds.
· Incorrect card details.
· Expired card.
· A security block from your bank.
· 3D Secure authentication failure.

10. Chargebacks
We strongly encourage you to contact us at contact@TjsPets.co.uk before initiating a chargeback with your bank. In the vast majority of cases, we can resolve any payment or order-related issue more quickly and effectively by working directly with you. If a chargeback is filed, we reserve the right to provide all relevant transaction details and proof of delivery to your financial institution to validate the transaction.
